The word โfernwehโ can be traced back to Prince Hermann Ludwig Heinrich von Puckler-Muskau, who wrote several books about his numerous travels. In 1835, he published a novel in which he used the word fernweh many times, stating that he never suffers from homesickness, or heimweh, but instead suffers from the opposite affliction or fernweh.
